The Galaga arcade game was launched in 1981 as the sequel of 1979 Galaxian. The concept was similar. The player controls a fleet of star fighters by side scrolling them at the bottom of the screen. The fleet shoots at the insect-like enemies coming from the top in different patterns. The object of the game was to kill as many enemies as possible. Whenever an enemy or its projectile hits a fighter, the fighter dies. When all the fighters in a fleet die, the player loses. This game has two improvements over its predecessor. First is that it has the ability to fire more than one shot at a time and second is that it shows hit to miss ratio at the end of the game. Namco developed it and distributed in North America by Midway. You can get Galanga on rent for a few days.
