Asteroids Classic Arcade Game was released in 1979 by Atari Inc. It is a horizontal space-themed shooter arcade video game. Asteroids was one of the first major successes of the “golden age of arcade games.”
The player controls a spacecraft that is flying through a belt of asteroids. At the same time, the spacecraft is also being attacked by flying saucers. The goal is to shoot flying saucers and avoid getting hit by their shots. Avoiding collisions with asteroids is also a crucial objective. When you successfully crosse one group of asteroids, the next level begins with different types of asteroids. The player keeps going until all the lives have been lost.
The game is available in two versions an upright cabinet and a cocktail table.
